The Origins of the Dust Jackrabbit
The story that answers the questions that bog and clog the mind-- What is a Dust Jackrabbit? Does it have antlers? Where did it come from? Where does it go?
A not so tall tale...
Does it have antlers? Nope! You're thinking of a jackalope, the North American mythical creature with the body of a rabbit and the antlers of an antelope or deer. It's a common misconception but a very cool creature nonetheless.
So where did the dust jackrabbit come from? Well, it came from the deep and twisted mind of our beloved founder and the novelist you know and fear, Kade Patrick (not to be confused with the lesser known but also greatly feared Kade Partric).
Patrick was hell bent on finding a publishing company that treated their authors like royalty, which is just an artistic way of saying we don't take a large chunk of our writers' hard earned radishes. Patrick was mostly invested in owning her own ISBN numbers, and this was the best damn way to do it. In the future, the dust jackrabbit will be foraging for the best stories to bring to a bookstore near you (or an online shop, this rabbit is with the times).
So what is a dust jackrabbit? It is quite simply the amalgamation of the phrases
Dust jacket (n): a protective paper cover of a book + Dust bunny (n): an aggregate or collection of dust
= Dust Jackrabbit (n) 1. a protective rabbit that seeks out the finest and most captivating of stories and brings them off the shelf and into the paws of the people
2. a publishing company
